WHAT'S NEW?

THE BLOG IS HERE

We are now practicing what we preach by having our very own blog. Blogs have become an increasingly popular way to keep websites fresh and updated by providing commentary or news on a particular subject instantaneously. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is also an important part of many blogs.

To ensure CIB’s website is relevant with up-to-date information, we will now be recording all our industry events, news and reviews as they happen.

Strengthening CIB’s new media skills, our very own Alasdair Glen attended an effective corporate blogging seminar. The course was too extensive to delve into too deeply, but we’ll certainly be looking to demonstrate the key features of any good blog on the CIB site.

CASE STUDY

A plum of a campaign

With over 2,300 architects enquiring in under two months and entries from 95 of the top 100 practices, this year’s Zumtobel Photographic Competition clearly demonstrates that online advertising is the most cost effective way to reach an architectural audience. To highlight this significant rate of change, three years ago we received only 636 responses to on-the-page advertising and last year, by promoting the competition online, we got close to 1,200 responses. 12 months later and this figure has now nearly doubled, no doubt helped by a stand alone email to BD’s subscribers. This clearly highlights how architects are increasingly engaging with online media. You need to be there.

“We’re all doomed” as Private Fraser from Dad’s Army would have it. But we knew that this was never the case.

That’s the feeling you get currently as the economy goes to hell in a hand cart and panic begins to grip the professional marketer. Let’s face facts the next 18 months are going to be significantly more difficult than the previous 10 years, so what should we do ?
