The Fernox event began for me at 5.45am on Thursday October 1st when I awoke to the sound of my alarm. Catherine and I met at the station who had luckily come prepared with an abundance of shoe comforters.
A croissant, an orange juice and an early morning conversation with Ernie McDonald, Francine Wickham, Claire Demuth and Richard Wall from Fernox perked us up as we made our way to the Cookson Head Office on The Strand.
While Ernie, Neil Watson and David Crimp rehearsed their presentations, I busied myself in the kitchen preparing drinks and an amazing plate of biscuits (I think the early morning shock had finally caught up with me) for the press.
As the press began to arrive, I ushered them upstairs for the presentation on the new TF1 from Fernox. We had a very good turn out, 19 members if the press attended the event. After a truly interesting and informative presentation on the development of the TF1, everyone made their way down to the Old Bank of England for some good old fashioned pub grub and to sample the famous specialty pies that were on offer.
As the alcohol and pies were free-flowing, the press were able to discuss in more detail the TF1 as Fernox employees were out in force to answer questions, - and not just on water treatment. The Fernox views on this years X-Factor finalists, childrens TV programmes of the 80s and favorite films were also pressing questions.
After the scrumptious lunch, we retired to the bar area where we were able to mingle. My instincts told me that this was not going to be an early night, and before I knew it, Catherine was rallying up the left over troops (Hamerville) and carting us off to the nearest karaoke bar to see who could hold a tune and who could clear a room.
After some interesting renditions of Poker Face, Islands in the Stream and Would I Lie to You we decided to stop for one more night cap before swapping our heels for flats and calling it a night and heading to the train station.
The event was a brilliant success and we hope that this is reflected in the amount of coverage the Fernox TF1 receives. Plumbing press over to you
