An Afternoon in the Tower

Press events are sometimes like buses. You might wait ages for one and then all of a sudden three come along at once. On Thursday 22nd October myself, Catherine and Amy had our third press event of the month, this time on behalf of ADT Fire & Security.

The event was designed to gather editors from the fire, M&E, building and public sector press to reinforce the company’s leading position in fire detection.

As they say, it’s great when a plan comes together. We were able to hold the press event in Tower 42, an iconic building originally installed in the 1980’s with an ADT fire detection and alarm system. Currently undergoing an important upgrade to the latest ADT digital system - it was a fantastic building to bring the editors to. We had a great turn out for the event with Modern Building Services, Fire Risk Management, HA, PSLG, Risk UK, Building Products, Local Government News and Electrical Engineering spending the afternoon with the team.

We began with a champagne reception overlooking the panoramic and breathtaking views of London. Although many of us attempted to play tour guide - we realised sadly how little we could identify in our own city…but it was a great way for the editors to mingle with the ADT team.

We moved on to one of the boardrooms and Sheilagh Hannah, Business Development and Marketing Director and Ray Puttock, Product Manager from ADT Fire & Security gave an impressive presentation that reminded us all why the company is, and will continue to be, the UK’s leading provider of fire and security solutions.

With plenty of food for thought there were many questions from the press over lunch before the event was finally wrapped up in the afternoon. After the event, CIB received many emails of thanks from the editors who enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about ADT and issues of fire safety. And I do believe, that many of them, myself included - did go home and check the batteries in their smoke alarms.
