A bonny trip to Scotland

Catherine and I recently took the editor of LABM, Claire Clutten, to visit Forbo Flooring System’s linoleum factory in Kircaldy (which also gave us the ideal excuse to sample the Edinburgh nightlife!)

The Forbo factory has been in operation since the late 1880’s with some very old Grade II listed buildings now housing the most sophisticated of technology.  The raw materials and manufacture of linoleum has not changed much (apart from the advance in machinery enabling a quicker process), since 1874 - when the first production started - so the tour was really interesting.

As for the evening - Well, I’d definitely recommend The Dome for food and The One Below for cocktails - and if you’re around 15 years old then The Opal Lounge may be for you i.e. It wasn’t for us!
